The Advocacy Prep Course (APC) is run over 4 sessions encompassing specially crafted modules designed to provide students with core competencies needed for the real-world legal workplace. APC will nurture the legal skills of CLP students’ to analyze & formulate solutions for client problems.
Students will also be taught office case files maintenance, develop listening & note-taking skills, marshalling the facts, draft correspondence, pre-trial and trial documents and conduct factual and legal research. Students will be taught methodically how to work on a contentious matter, building and developing a case response step by step. The course will culminate with the presentation and defense of various legal opinions.
Learning outcomes:
- provide the skills necessary to prepare, manage, present and/or respond to a case or legal argument, both orally and in writing, before a court or other tribunal, whether formal or informal;
- prepare students for the advocacy training methods to which they will be exposed in pupillage and thereafter;
